SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG! The trees are budding out there are little blades of grass coming out and the cedar treess are putting out their pollen... allergy season is here! It is a busy time here on the ranch...new calves are being born and its time to start planting the garden.

Our Story

The W Diamond L ranch was founded in 1919 by A.F. Willett and his wife Bessie. Grandma and Grandpa Willett left Oklahoma and moved to northeastern New Mexico to homestead. They also created the W Diamond L brand for horses and cattle in New Mexico at this time.

Today the northern half of the original ranch is run by Suzanne Bennefield, a granddaughter of the Willetts, and her husband Ted. Their son Jeremy also lives on the ranch and helps out.

The ranch raises commercial cattle, quarter horses, paint horses, hogs, and chickens. We sell fresh eggs to local folks. We are avid gardeners, and have been selling our surplus veggies and fruit locally for a few years now. As the 2012 growing season is getting close, we are expanding this facet of our operations.

We are offering a limited amount of CSA memberships this year so we can get our feet wet, with plans to expand in 2013. We also will be selling at regional farmers markets and in local areas not served by farmers markets. Please check back this spring for more details about this.

We strive to grow the best food available. We believe that with good management practices and quality natural inputs we can do just that. We do not raise any GMO foods. We also will not use petro-chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We use an integrated approach to pest management that includes monitoring for early signs of pests, the use of beneficial organisms and natural pest repellents and pesticides for control.
